Pre-decorated cupcakes

Attn: Williams Dining Services – It’s not Decorate-Your-Own-Cupcake night if you’re just serving a larger-than-usual variety of cupcakes for dessert.

Not that I’m complaining, really.

News on a buncha buncha burnin’ fronts:

  1. GQ has new frosh! Rob, Rob, Ryann, and Marissa are the proud representatives of the ’11s in our hardy gang. We’re off to a galloping start and learning music at an alarming rate. Plus Ryann has extremely witty taste in shirts.
  2. I’m noticing that my days basically consist of moving in a triangle between Morgan, Paresky, and Lawrence Hall (the ArtH dept./WCMA) with stops in Hopkins for Italian and Bernhard for GQ. Now, if I never have to go to the Greylock quad (save for getting boozy with Dave & Co.) it would be too soon, but this is starting to feel a little ridiculous. Thank god that…
  3. …I got my official acceptance letter for Siena School for Liberal Arts spring 2008 term.
  4. The Rembrandt tutorial is boss. I elected to write the first paper, which was a critical review of a series of interpretations of Rembrandt’s 1654 Bathsheba. My partner and I were in the our professor’s office for almost two hours! There was friction at the right points, with a good balance of resolution and dialogue, and of course our professor, who just laughed when we jumped off on another line of inquiry as she tried to do a little wrap-up talk. The first paper felt a little forced, but that’s surely inevitable – can’t wait to do more.
  5. Methods is also really awesome for the way it has been structured (Aigh! Beware Hegelian Structuralism, beware!) The prof. isn’t afraid to actually give us some context for our readings and to help and map out the authors’ not-always-crystal-clear arguments. Thus our group discussions aren’t total wastes of time; we can actually start to tease out some methodological dialogues…oh boy.

Yeah, that’s basically all I got. I’m fading fast – I don’t mind having Italian at 9AM. I’m a morning person myself, but 9AM Monday through Friday? Not very pretty. Ah well – the weekend approacheth. Look busy.
